Default Re: 3/6 99, how should I have played this?

A few posters commented on pre-flop. I really don't think limping in is such a big deal here. Sure, I raise most of the time, but limping is ok too. Folding is out of the question.

I also don't mind seeing the turn here, we're closing the action for 1 small bet in a 14 SB pot. Sure we don't really have the immediate odds to call here, but i'm sure we can make up the difference if we turn a 9.

Ok, we hit our set. You must 3-bet this turn. The pot is pretty big at this point and you want to face MP1 and MP2 with calling 2 more bets, especially since there is a good chance they are both drawing. Sometimes they will call with sufficient odds and that's fine, we're getting value off our hand when they don't hit. Sometimes, they will fold with sufficient odds, which is fine too in a pot of this size. They might even call getting insufficient odds. Either way, 3-betting her is the play.

If we somehow get capped, I hope only to put in 1 more BB on the river, unless of course we fill up.

The games I play if I limp this UTG more often than not I end up isolated and OOP so I prefer a raise. If the preflop action in this hand was typical for this particular game I like the limp and it worked out very well for you. I think the flop is good, checking the turn seems to be a little risky with all the draws on board. I prefer to bet/three bet but I don't think going for the check raise is bad either. I don't care for the check/call.

I pretty much think every action you took was the wrong one. Raise before the flop. The flop is an easy fold but you can play it harder if you were the PFR with fewer players in. The turn is an easy three bet. The river should be check raised.

Ew...

PSU changed my mind about the flop. No 9 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] and all the redraws make this an easy fold.
