Re: Most unbeatable record
Losing the most eh? Impressive!
The record I think is the most unbeatable, isn't all that impressive either, though. Kratochvilova's 1:53.38 in the 800m is so insanely good, it will stand for many decades still (it's stood for nearly a quarter of a century already). The greatest female 800m runner of all time, four time world champion Maria Mutola, has barely been within two seconds of the record. The reason, of course, for my lack of awe over Kratochvilova's performance is based in the fact that she was a gruesome medical experiment with 99.99% certainity. |

Career pitching wins and losses records are so unbreakable it's almost not even worth discussing. What's more interesting are single season records. What's the most unbreakable single season record? Wilt's 50.4 ppg? Wilt's 27.2 rpg? Gretzky's 92 goals? Gretzky's 163 assists? Gretzky's 215 points? [/ QUOTE ] With the NHL possible increasing net sizes and its attempts to increase scoring I think we could see Sidney Crosby take a run at some of Gretzky's records. |

Re: Most unbeatable record
I posted this in the most impressive records broken in the last 20 years thread, but winning the US Open by 15 shots is the only recent feat I can think of that could still be standing next century.

Re: Most unbeatable record
I don't think Ted Hendricks' record of 25 blocked kicks will be broken. You don't have defensive tackles & backup QB's kicking square-toe anymore, for starters.
Archie Moore's 141 career KO's might last awhile, too. |

[/ QUOTE ] btw, Clemens and Maddux basically just finished (probably) the best pitching careers of the modern era. (not peak years, but performance * years pitched). they are both almost 60% of the way to Young's record. they each need about 10 more years of 30ish decisions to catch him...or until Maddux is 50, and Clemens is 52 |

[ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] Is there a more unbeatable record than Cy Young's record for most losses of 316? [/ QUOTE ] yes, Cy Young, total decisions, 827 [/ QUOTE ] cy young's WINS record is harder to break than the losses I think Tatis' 2 Grand Slams in one inning is a bit harder to beat. [/ QUOTE ] |
