Re: 50NL turned set w/ scary board
His agression of 1.7 suggests he's only betting great hands here and calls with a lot of marginal hands/draws, so checking against this villain is bad. The case for a check can be made against an agressive villain who will see your turn check as giving up after the c-bet. Then, yeah, a check raise is a good play.

Re: 50NL turned set w/ scary board
I dont think I'd 3bet a guy with 7% pfr from the blinds w/ KQ even though he raised from the button.

What's scary about this board? $25, call a push.

well this makes some good sense to me. Can you ever make a case for checking...just out of curiosity [/ QUOTE ] What would his hand range have to be for checking to be better than betting? I think it would be really hard to come up with a legit one on this board. |

[/ QUOTE ] Well its hard to say bc the entire hand would play out differently really. Say it folds to you OTB and you raise to $2, SB folds, and villain (same villain in OP) calls. So there's $4.25 in the pot. Same flop Qc Tc 2s. He checks, I cbet for $3.50, he calls. Pot is now $11.25. Turn is the 9d and I'd bet $7.50 (on a less drawy flop I'd check for pot control). Bc he could have a draw I want to charge him. If he raises my turn bet, I'd fold. If he calls the turn and checks the river I check behind. If the river is a club or a K or something that completes a draw and he leads big on the river I'd fold as this guy's prob not making a move. If a blank hits the river and he fires, we have a decision to make, but I'd still prob fold here too. EDIT: An argument could be made for checking the turn here for pot control though also. |

I forgot this was a RR pot so some of hte straights are less likely. Betting is probably better. I think if the turn was a K, it would make for a better spot to c/r AI |
