Kibby, you got it, many thanks. What had me confused was the information value of the folds. It is this information value which makes this problem different to the Monty Hall problem.
jafeather, Monty Hall Solution: Assume Prize is behind door 1. a. You choose door 2, Monty opens door 3. Switch = win b. You choose door 3 Monty opens door 2. Switch = win c. You choose door 1 Monty opens 2 or 3. Switch = lose ie switch wins 2/3. What Kibby's answer means is that the same situation does not apply to poker. (by analogy folding = Monty opening a door). |
