Re: puking during exercise
Funny you posted this today. There is this big Bulgarian guy in my department and he works out HARD, and one of my close friends just became his work out partner. Today the Bulgarian guy told my friend a story about how he was pushiung himself once during squats and just projectile vomitted everywhere. Then he started convulsing on the floor...they gave him some sugar packets and sent him home. This was in Greece.

Re: puking during exercise
[ QUOTE ]
Am I just not working hard enough? Does it even happen? [/ QUOTE ] I would puke on occasion during football/wrestling conditioning in high school. Once you feel so tired you want to collapse you just run some more and you'll eventually puke. |

Does anyone know why it happens?

Re: puking during exercise
I feel nausea probably about 50% of the time I work out. Especially if I run after lifting. I think it might have to do with reduced blood flow to the head.

Re: puking during exercise
I had a buddy that would puke after squat day roughly a third of the time.

Re: puking during exercise
Ugh, I joined Army ROTC for a while in college. I wasn't in top shape when I started, so I was constantly puking while doing long runs. Sometimes I wouldn't even stop to puke; I'd just turn my head. Quitting wasn't really tolerated.

Re: puking during exercise
I puked like 3 or 4 times in HS after a track meet. I think all 3 or 4 meets were in a row also. 2 Indoor races for Conference and States and then my first meet of outdoor. Although I think the outdoor puking was b/c I didnt realize I was running soon and ate and drank too much.
These were all 600 or 800m races. So anywhere from 90 seconds to 2 minutes of running. |

Re: puking during exercise
One of my college football coaches used to puke out the back door of our tiny fieldhouse. Tony Kornheiser read a long email that I wrote about weight coaches that included him.(brag)
During an intermural fraternity swim meet (I got drafted), the guy was like "if you feel like you are gonna puke, get the hell out of the pool". He wasn't kidding, I nearly yaked. Swimming is tough after 10 years of not doing it so much. |

Re: puking during exercise
I puked at most track meets about 3 minutes after I would finish a 400m. And I've done the same thing on a bike several times by pushing really hard for a couple miles and then winding up to an all out sprint.
I assume it has something to do with not being in excellent condition, because I didn't ever puke when I was. |

It was a straight hour of sprints, high jumps, jump ropes, box jumps, and abs, and I always went 100% Puking your face off then coming back in and running some more was a great feeling...well when you were done at least |
