yeah i bet the turn 90% of the time here, but i wanted my hand to look like air, and raise river, then his large river bet, made me throw up and call.

Why bet the turn you ask? Because he's called the flop bet, likely has some kind of draw, the 8 shouldn't scare him, you want to build the pot at this point, plus you want him to pay dearly for his draws.

[/ QUOTE ]

The chances of him drawing here are pretty ridiculous.
I'd say he's much more likely to be slowplaying a overpair/set which is why I always bet this turn.

there is NO WAY that his most likely hand at this point is a slow-played set/overpair. It's a weak one pair hand, maybe something stupid like AK. Sure he's slowplaying sometimes; but it's rare, he's got [censored]. The chances that he check-called the flop w/ 67 or JQ or 0.

the turn check is good for inducing bluffs; letting them make a 2nd best hand; and barely EVER making a hand better than yours. The river 'just-call' sucks though. Get it in.

Bet more on flop.
I like the check-behind on turn.
Raise all in on river, I could care less he had a better hand, his range is worse.
Cheers!
John
