Interesting hand vs. Nordberg in the Stars nightly

This hand is not interesting. Nord's preflop call of the raise to 6xBB was terrible. The raise itself was large, but OP presumably had the right read that Nord wanted to call.

Postflop is not interesting and is a bad beat.

Surprised at the comments here. I think it's way better to bet this flop than not to. Villain should be calling with lots of hands we want him to call with, and many of the ones that won't call won't give us action unless they improve to beat us anyway.

The turn is also interesting, and while I like a small raise, I think that he will call a little more with an 8.

you need to bet these try paired boards with your overpairs, people love to c/r them with air all the time. Stop being coy with overpairs. Also, JJ is like the worst overpair to do it with because 12 turn cards are [censored] for you and if he had a 8x he is scared when the Q/K/A turn comes and if he didn't have anything he prob hit 1 of them.

I don't know Nordberg and I would call but, really, there's not much we're beating here, is there. He has to have figured out that we have a pair > 88 by the river and that we are calling. Is he really going to push 99-TT here or play those hands this way?

Great play. Nice bet on turn IMO. Could have kicked it up a couple of K probably. Villain is drawing to 5 outs. He sucked out, and u loose. Nothing u could do. He would have called river anyway, at least a bet of say 15k.

i say bet the flop, you raised preflop, he called your raise....flop comes low, you obv have best hand at this time seeing as a player such as nordberg doesnt call with a 3...

IMO bet the flop, push the turn...

you never know being the aggressive player that he is, he might push back, he may put you on a missed AK and a c-bet as you raised preflop...when i have a PP and the flop misses low i bet out and make it look like a c-bet...if he folds, you take down a pot. i try to remember that winning small pots is a hell of a lot better than losing big ones.

i think the only thing i would change from this hand is your checking the flop. I definitely would have bet. He will often see this as a bluff and call with a lot of hands. If you win the pot, then thats fine because any card over a J on the turn is a bit of an issue for you.

And I dont understand why people say thet Nord played this badly. He completed from SB with connectors (no limpers), he called a standard 3xBB raise from the BB which will often be a bluff (certainly doesnt necessarily indicate strenght), he checked when he hit the flop hoping you would Cbet, he then bet the safe turn and made a good hand on the river. He sucked out but that doesnt mean he played badly

yeah i'm guilty of this, thought he open limped the button/co. turn isn't a fold for nordberg tho?
