It was kind of odd to walk in there and not see/or hear slot machines. To me it's just an effing huge cardroom. Not really a casino. Not a whole lot for non-players to do.

It was kind of overwhelming for me when I first saw it. They weren't lying when people told me it was like a football field full of poker tables. It really is incredible to see. Bring something to catch the drool. [img]/images/graemlins/grin.gif[/img]

Been a while since you've been in Commerce TT? They pulled out the platform area a couple of months ago to make room for extra tables that spread plain vanilla 9/18.

Commerce is NOT the place to go looking for hot chicks, unless you have an old Asian lady fetish, but there are plenty of great games. The 9/18 is a particularly good game, though it has less of a mystique since they got rid of the terrace to make room for more tables.

If you want someplace that actually looks nice, go to The Bike. If you want someplace with more competent dealers and floor, go to Commerce. And get the passion fruit bubble tea (or boba tea, if you never lived in Manhattan); it's my personal favorite.

Its a dump. A very cool dump, but its a dump. Imagine a brightly lit dive bar the size of two football fields. The celebs play there for the same reason you do - good games and more choices than anywhere else.

If I recall correctly, the new drop goes like this (for 9-18):

Pre-flop: $1
Flop: $3 plus $1 BBJ
Turn: $1

Edit to answer Slim: I believe Foxwoods is the largest in terms of square footage, but Commerce has more poker tables.

wow....I guess they don't have to suck up to poker players like they do in Vegas because there's no slots for our gf or wives to donate to when we play poker. Oh well, if the games are as lively as everyone seems to say, then it'll be worth it.
