Re: Live $1-2 Tunica - A9s makes trips on the river
Yes, a three-bet on the river (especially one less than all-in) at these stakes means I'm in big trouble.
I crying-called like a donk expecting to see J9. In reality I got to see A [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] 8 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. The only reason I called was my consciousness that I'd been somewhat weak-tight the whole day, which is why I mentioned that in my preface. But ace-fricking-eight? Into a field of six with only a backdoor flush draw and an overcard? Here's the lesson I took: IF I hadn't been worried about my table image, so that I could happily fold to a 3-bet, then a river raise is prob'ly OK. I agree with the sentiment to raise less -- maybe to $35, a bit more than a minraise but still enough to get called by undertrips or top pair. The real problem is, I raised without thinking about how I'd respond to a reraise. Had I done so, I'd have thought about my fears of weak-tightness, and probably just decided to call so as to not put myself in an uncomfortable position. I'm trying to get more value on the river, but when I'm worried about weak-tightness isn't the time to do it. |
