I don't understand why you opt to escalate the pot on the turn w/ 2nd pair. R u bluffing? You can't be vbetting, right? [/ QUOTE ] I was thinking it could have been some sort of free showdown raise, but if I were to do that I would have only made it ~35 or so. |

Re: i really want to call, 200nl
I would 3 bet pre-flop almost always here. I usually bet the flop 3 way but that tends to be villain dependant. A check is often better HU but 3 way is not as hot.
As played just call the turn and see how heavy he goes on the river. |

Re: i really want to call, 200nl
Some of you suggested checking behind the flop if it were heads-up. Can you explain your reasoning in more detail?
To me this would look like giving a free card to hands like AQ. Also you don't know where you stand if your opponent bets the turn. Now you'd have to wonder if he has a pair of kings or is stealing. |

Re: i really want to call, 200nl
First he calls and after a raise he shoves, that's never ever a bluff is it? It's more like "hm weak lead, I better call so the third guy can come along with my monster.. oh wait a raise, he must like his hand, let's get it all in then!"

3 betting preflop sucks when you have position and people play terribly postflop

[ QUOTE ]
Those of you who 3-bet preflop, why? [/ QUOTE ] Because they read it somewhere. 1. Reraising with 99 preflop in this position is just ass. There is no reason to do this in this spot. You have position after the flop with a mid pair and a not too big pot against a, from what it looks like, a TAG. That's what you want. 2. Cont. bet on the flop. This is as dry a board as they come. If a Q, J, 10, or A comes, you're going to be confused and/or beat. 3. Just call on the turn. I am befuddled as to why you are raising a half a pot bet here. Are you trying to give him bad odds to hit an ace on the river? Or are you so confident that you're 99 is good that you want him to reraise and get all your money in? I'm confused. 4. If he fires again on the river, you may want to consider folding, it depends on what his bet is. |

Re: i really want to call, 200nl
Seriously, tell me why you would 3-bet.
I agree with Barry that it's not very good. Maybe not terrible, but almost certainly not optimal. |
