Unconfirmed rumor regarding Chexx Inc

Why couldn't your friend cash his check? He already has it, and it is not Feb 2 yet.

Isn't there a normal couple days of delay...being that it's the 31st it prob won't be done by the 2nd. March 2nd would be much nicer.

We figured it was just some local bank(1of13) being silly. The letter he got with the return check stated they have had a high number of fraudulent checks from Chexx Inc and wouldn't honor them. he called them and they said they wouldn't try to process it lest it be returned. I encouraged him to close his account.


He went across the street, threw two bones in a new checking account and deposited it. The 5 day hold is nothing new.

I emailed Chexx Inc at info@chexxinc.com with a few of the ?s posted here. I'll let you know what I find out if/when they actually respond.

This post isn't based on "insider" knowledge, but reading between the lines of Chexx's announcement is seems quite clear to me that they're saying:

1. After Feb 2, they will not issue NEW checks; therefore
2. Any checks you currently have in-hand are good and should be cashed/desposited.

A couple people have posted that their local banks have declined Chexx checks. That's odd but shouldn't dissuade others. You should go ahead and cash your checks...now.
