My best friends cousin is in a wheelchair and has a deformed hand. He doesnt pay attention to it much and neither do we. I shake his hand (the withered one) everytime I see him. I usually give him a pat on the back though too just to take attention that Im not squeezing his hand much on purpose. Its kinda weird at first, but I know a couple parapalegics(sp?)and they tell me they make jokes about people that actively try to be too sensitive about it. They'd rather just have someone be inquisitive but not sympathetic.
