I don't really have a problem with small gigs, just kids show gigs. I want to perform for adults who are looking for high class unusual entertainment. I would gladly do small private parties if this was the audience.

Reed McClintock is a local magician, who specializes in stuff similar to what you're talking about. Google him, try to get in contact with him, and ask for pointers/mentoring.
He could potentially be a huge resource for you, and you lose nothing if he isn't able/willing. |

I understand not wanting to do kids parties...I'm a local musician and I can undertand a little about being above these types of gigs....my point is that you can still make money off this audience if you hire someone to do the actual performance for you. Plus I would thik you would get a little personal satisfaction from mentoring an upcoming magician. |
