depends on the airport, but the general rule of thumb is to arrive 1.5 hours before departure.

I never arrive earlier then 1 hour hour, HOWEVER my airport is pretty damn small. With JFK, Newark and LaGuardia all within somewhat close distance i think that makes it alot easier. Altho going to Orlando we went 2 hours early and 1 hour would have been fine there as well.

It takes about 30 minutes for me to get from my apartment to the airport parking lot. I usually try to get there 2 hours in advance, because you never know about traffic, shuttles being slow, fluke line at check in kiosks, security backup, etc. There's so many things to slow you down that you really should give as much time as possible. If you arrive early, just find a bar to have a drink. No biggie.

Can someone help a guy out here, since I'm pretty clueless on these new flying restrictions?
I'm headed to San Diego tomorrow and I plan on just carrying on. I'm not really sure what I'm allowed and not allowed though, and for what I am allowed, how it needs to be. For instance, it's probably best to just ignore crap like soap, toothpaste and gel and just buy some once I get to SD, correct? Then there's things such as : contact cleaner contact case with cleaner in the case rewetting drops cologne These things are the ones that are annoying me. I don't mind paying a couple bucks for toothpaste, but I don't want to buy a new bottle of cologne just to use it a couple time and throw it out when I leave. |
