El D:

Macy's does indeed have some hot sales and they have some higher end and better quality products, but I think that BBB will have more selection, atleast in terms of comforters.

The thread count doesn't necessarily matter if it's in the 250+ range, it mostly depends on the material and the feel, to you. If it's a bit higher it will have more of a sateeny, softer feel, and most people prefer that. Also, it will not pill as much, and keep the feathers inside the duvet.

The fill count will just indicate the amount of down going into the duvet. The higher, the more snuggly and warm you will be, and the less likely the down will move around. 500 is the lower end, and the warmest are typically 600+. Most people have two comforters where I live, one for summer and one for winter.

One final option you will encounter: baffling. This is the tiny boxes that are sewn into a comforter. Again, it keeps the down together and not clumped to one side of the duvet. This is worth paying for, as it encourages even distribution of feathers.

PS: Good god, $9000?

I only buy my comforters at department stores, dillards, macy's, etc, these places ALWAYS have a clearence section where you can get some sweet 600$ ralph lauren, nautica, etc stuff, for like 50 to 75% off, the only [censored] part is you have to go to a mall, and you might have to go to more than one store in that mall.

I don't get thread counts & fill counts. I go to store and feel all of them. Most comfy wins. My current one is a down comforter I got from Kohl's and it was $160.

The bright side is that there may be a Chick-Fil-A in the mall.

El D,

Quilts

Big fan of these vs Comforter. Also higher thread count = softer, So the sheeting that its wrapped in would be softer

If you like the Motel 6 look. Plus, you are forgetting that duvets are fun to make a girl wear like a toga.

If you agree to come over and model it as a toga for me I could very easily be persuaded to buy a duvet/comforter
