Default New WPO rule

From Cardplayer:

New Rule
Tournament officials just made an announcement about a new rule that is in place at the World Poker Open. It was announced that after the river is out and you are the last to act, if you hold the nuts and check, you will receive a 10-minute penalty.

Needless to say, this has spurred many interesting conversations at almost every table.

Wonder WTF is going on there then...

Interesting, I guess it makes sense in some ways, though it seems to me if they want to enforce it they also have to penalize players who smooth call the nuts last to act instead of raising.

What if I want to see what the other guy is playing ?
What if you both have the nut straight ?
what if I go for a check raise and miss ?

This sounds like a team thing, Is Men in the room ?

This seems like it would be the only problem to this rule, and a very minor one at that.

What if you both have the nut straight ?
I dont see what you are going for here. If you both have the nut striaght, you're going to end up all in right? Why would you both check the nut straight on the river anyways?

If you're last to act, it's pretty hard to pull of a check raise

I dont see why else they would announce this right in the middle of a tournament, sounds like someone may have gotten bet out of a hand and the other two guys went check/check on the river and one had the nuts

If you both have a 4 card straight and you're pretty sure you've both got the same hand, and rather than cut out a bet that you know will be called lets divvy the pot and move on.
