Re: Sadr
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] After the US eventually leaves [/ QUOTE ] The US is not going anywhere my friend. They are not spending billions on permanent bases and a spanking new humongous american embassy just to say goodbye in 3-5 years. It doesn't matter who wins the next election, the U.S is staying there for good. [/ QUOTE ] You speak as if it is bad to build military bases within the countries that we were fighting against. We did the same thing in Japan and Germany. Our military bases are located in many nations aside from America and have been operational since then. |

Saddam-decorated general to lead battle against Sadr army
[ QUOTE ]
Sadr is an Iraqi nationalist. [/ QUOTE ]In the comedic/tragic manner in which History usually evolves, the news comes that another Iraqi Shia who is also an Iraqi firebrand, Lt. Gen. Abboud Gambar, chosen by Al-Maliki with the approval of the U.S. commanders, will lead military units against the self-styled Mehdi Army of Bani Sadr. (link) The irony is, of course, that the executioners of Saddam Hussein were Sadr loyalists, while the general who will now go after them was a Ba'ath stalwart who was personally decorated by Saddam Hussein for exceptional bravery. (Gambar's brigade defended the Kuwaiti island of Fialaka against the American assault during the 1991 Gulf War.) Saddam shall have his revenge. ...It is written. Mickey Brausch |
