I read some hype about this show and decided to get the first few episodes. I was stunned at how good this show was. The writing is up there with the best of TV. Seasons 1 & 2 are both very solid. Season 3 has been a bit less so, but I'm hooked now and can't wait for the new episodes to start. I mean, in the very first episode, Veronica's best friend gets brutally killed and Veronica gets raped; this is definitely not the silly teenybopper high-school show I would have assumed it was.

thank you for the spoilers

I've never seen it but I had heard that Michael Cera (George Michael from Arrested Development) and Alia Shawkat (Maeybe from AD) were in it for a couple episodes (and may be returning).

I might have to check this out.

I've seen every episode, and started because of recommendations from this forum. My friends made fun of me, and so did my roommate, but he started watching the third season with me, and hasn't missed and episode yet.

Sure it's super corny at times, to the point of being embarrassed if other people who don't regularly watch the show are in the room. But despite that I enjoy it very much and would recommend it highly.

Those were hardly spoilers. I mean both things already happened by the time the show starts and you get 2 flashbacks near the beginning of the episode if I remember correctly. It's more like the basis for the first season.

The show's ratings aren't too hot although they've been improving somewhat (I think the dvds and itunes buys have been considered a success though).

I think the reason is because the show looks like a typical piece of crap teenybopper WB/UPN show, but in reality it's very smart and interesting.

PS can anyone believe that Kristen Bell (veronica mars) is 26 years old?

Veronica Mars is the teenage daughter of a Private Investigator. She works in her dad's office formally as a receptionist, but she occassionally assists him. Her classmates will also come to her for help (ie - they are in trouble for doing something they didn't do).

So she's Encyclopedia Brown?

Kind of, but she searches for crimes involving rape, murder etc. I think in the show one of her friends jokes that she is encyclopedia brown.

Sure, pretty close according the the Wiki article. Except she's a really cute blonde girl, doesn't work out of a garage and charges more than a quarter/day + expenses.

It's an entertaining show. I don't know that I'd say it's good, but I enjoy it for what it is.
