Yes you can have multiple Visas or MCs.

Don't apply for another card.

If I get like 50 different credit cards and try to make them all out, will they cut me off before I max them all? I remember somebody here worked for a credit card company; are they watching my balance on the other cards, like if I run 40 cards up to a $5000 balance on each, can I keep charging on other cards?

cbloom,

No I don't think so wrt "if they are watching 24/7". I have no knowledge but have heard of rumors of people applying for a ton of credit cards to finance certain things. I bet this would work if you could get decent credit and apply for them slowly and get limits raised at all... but this begs the question... Why?

Here's another dumb credit card question.....why do they keep raising my limits like every month when I never even come remotely close to spending as much money as my previous limit was? Do they think they are going to reach some magic number where I go "[censored] it, im gonna go spend 50 grand on my credit card today"?

So after I commit a bunch of insurance fraud I can max out a ton of cards and then retire to Colombia and grow coca.

I don't know if that's why they do it, but it's good for you that they do.

There's some upper limit on total credit but it's wayyyy up there. You also might suffer adverse credit reporting with a ton of cards. As you use a card they up your limit hoping to get you to carry a balance and shove 24% interest up your bum.

If there's no annual fee, take the card. You never know. You go busto and it may be your out. Might be bail or a lawyer or 20 hookers, you just can't anticipate the potential need. Personal bankruptcy is the final solution for 20 maxed out cards. Party!

Note: If you never use them they will yank the card. Charge a tank of gas every couple months to keep 'em up.
