Anybody have any experience with the 8k "composite" set?
And here I thought 8k was a lot of points... -Grendel |

Those are the crappy "dice" chips that everyone has.
DO NOT waste your FPPs on these. 8,000 points has a cash value of about $120, and I would say this set is worth $40 (at most). If you want these chips, buy this set or something similar. Buy something else with your points and just pay cash for the chips if you want them. |

The 42k set also has 100 more chips, a larger case (duh) and a couple decks of cards.

They pretty much let you have free reign at pokerchips.com with the 42K set - I'm in the process of ordering mine now. I think you can get up to 6 different chips, select your own quantities and artwork (front and back), etc. I got to choose between the oak and the walnut case.
My chips: ![]() I thought about going with the more standard purple chip for the $500, but the gold fits better with the theme, and I really like the way that chip looks, so I'm sticking with that. And I'm still debating about changing the gold edgespot on the $100 to red, but then 3 of the chips would have the same edgespots, so I'm not sure I want that either. I'll probably juse leave them as is. Can't wait to get them! |

A comment on the 8K set too - I have a couple of them that I had ordered a long time ago, and there's certainly nothing wrong with them, but they're just the run-of-the-mill dice chips you see everywhere. If I remember right, they slap a Pokerstars (foil) logo on them too, which is fine.
I've found they come in handy when I've run larger tournaments - like 30+ people. It's not the end of the world if I lose a chip or two over the course of the night, and you can mix/match those chips with other sets no problem. My new chips would be more for cash games or smaller events where I know/trust everyone. |

If they were 2,000 FPPs it would be a good deal. |
