Re: Raise out of left field, TPGK plus NFD
i can def. see how betting is good here, but sometimes you know you're gonna get c/red, like when a quiet guy all of a sudden calls a flop when he's been fitorfolding the whole session. doesn't really apply here given the short session but getting c/r sucks here cause your ace isn't any good and there's some makeup value when you check the turn and river a diamond and he's does have a set. just some thoughts.

[ QUOTE ]
This seems very marginal. If we are 100% sure that our TP is no good, then calling would be incorrect. We have no implied odds either. We are getting 3:1, when we would ideally like to be laid 4:1 or better. [/ QUOTE ] We don't have direct odds. But, he does have enough behind for the implied odds. |

Re: Raise out of left field, TPGK plus NFD
Also, I like a smaller turn bet here for two reasons. First, we are betting for value; we want a call. We are not going to get any better hands to fold, and we want value for our combo draw. If we are ahead, we are likely to get paid off/called incorrectly by a lot of weaker A's and straight/flush draws. Second, and more importantly, a smaller raise makes our decision much easier if we get raised. If we call his raise, we will generally not be commited to calling if we brick the river.

Re: Raise out of left field, TPGK plus NFD
Up to you. I don't know how you're getting this read. My read is anything from a draw to something with an 8 or a 7 in it. It could be literally anything. I don't think you lose too much by checking, but I don't see why you wouldn't just keep the lead. If you are really thinking combo draw, then check it through and you should be able to get it all in on the river if the diamond hits.
