Turnip - yeah, definitely, it's just more of a hassle.

For rice cookers without fuzzy logic or other auto-temp adjusting functions during the cooking process, the final product can be more uneven, or the pot boils over, so you pretty much have to watch it on and off for half an hour to make sure it's coming out ok, not boiling over, and to see when it's done.

This could just be me though, and I'm usually against spending more for a standard kitchen appliance, but I make alot of brown rice / steel cut oats / pilaf whatever, so having a more advanced rice cooker has been worth it. Also, for things like brown rice, cuts down on pre-soaking time.

Odd,

Sounds like grits are more of a Sunday meal. Like pancakes and eggs benedict.

cream of wheat with milk and sugar FTW

...also...I do not eat breakfest (anything besides coffee before 11 or so makes me sick to my stomach)

what's with all you pussies eating cream of wheat? Oatmeal's okay, but eating a "flavored" version of either is like getting a wine-cooler: namely, girly-girl.

Grits are the manly way to go. Preferably with lots of butter, pepper and salt. Great stuff.

And where the hell is farina in this poll? Actually, a better question is, WHAT the hell is farina?? And what's the deal with this pillow-biter:
