I'm 3-betting this flop all day. The range of hands we are scared of is very limited. 77 or a random 54s/56s? I reraise it to 100$ and if he pushes back over the top (which I would not expect to happen very often) I think I'd have to lay it down.

As played, I think he's shown too much strength throughout the hand, fold river.

3betting flop is bad because it lets him get away from a lot of hands that we beat, while most of the ones he stays in with crush us and we are just setting ourselves up to lose the maximum. it's particularly awful given that we are 200bb deep.

I like it, but think the river is a fold. This guy could be C/Ring the flop w/ air, but I think we can rule that out when he fires again on turn and certainly river.

[/ QUOTE ]
you're putting him on exactly 77, 55, or 75?

The flop line just makes no sense if he has a five, but then a lot of people are stupid. Alternatively, he may think "aha, he's on tilt, let's annoy him with a check raise with my quad fives" or whatever.

This looks fine to me though. He's very aggressive, he could have practically any overpair here.

[/ QUOTE ]
? I think his line is good with any 5 here. What is your typical play if your in villan's shoes with say, a hand like 45s/A5s/etc etc etc.

I fold the river vs. some players but with your reads/history I would call.

I think you gotta call. An aggressive thinking player will be able to narrow your range of overpairs here.. So once it gets to the river, I think it makes sense from his perspective to fire one more big one in hopes of folding out QQ and KK. I can see how this villain could talk himself into continuing firing after he decided to raise the flop with whatever he may have. All in all, I think it's pretty close and I wouldn't fault a laydown - I just think you'll be ahead often enough here.
