+EV doesn't necessarily mean you will be profitable...

To edit my last post: what you changed your question to was

[ QUOTE ]
The question was simply how many bets do we need here in order to turn this from -EV to +EV .

[/ QUOTE ]

+EV doesn't automatically translate into "profit". DUCY?

I think we both understand basic RoR principles, and I think I am justified in equating profitable with +EV. Just because a $400 bankroll does not give someone a very low RoR does not mean it is not a profitable situation.

You want my title or something?

More though, why are you only winning $100 for a $200 even money bet? Wouldn't you and your friend win the full $200? You are splitting the amount EV and not the whole of the win, right?

Instead of being a wise guy, why not elaborate on your question? Because as I am reading it, the question is unclear. So I ask again, why are you only getting $100 from an even money $200 bet?

I understand the EV calc fine.

[/ QUOTE ] Because that is how the deal between him and Kris is.

edit: Also, I think the word "we" should be replaced with "me" in the last sentence of the OP. This should be easy to see, but is that what confuses you?

Hear me out: you do this bet once, and win. $400 gets pushed your way. What precisely happens with that $400?

Also, same scenario, you lose. What happens?

[/ QUOTE ] $300 to you, $100 to Kris.

Okay - when do we account for the money you stake Kris?

Gonso, I think he means to say he pays his friend at the end of each session, not each bet. If he pays after every bet then this is -EV.

Also, his definition of profit is the larger of 0 and the ending balance - 200.
