Is it just me or does it seem like everytime I go to the casino I leave with no money in my pocket and cant take out anymore money from the ATM. I'm going to stop going to a casino for 1 year starting the 1st. It will be very hard because being a semi-pro card player I have alot of friends who are degens. However I hope to hold my ground. To everyone who wants to join me in my quest, please post in.

kordo,

I think you should reconsider.

The sooner you go broke, the sooner two very good things will happen: a) you'll stop playing poker and b) your internet will get disconnected. If you stop playing poker, maybe you'll hit a GA meeting, which would get your college experience and your life back on the right track. And when your internet gets disconnected, you won't be able to defile our forums with your verbal diahrrea. It's win-win!

I have a friend that plays 2 hands at $100 each on blackjack - since I've known him he has probably played about 30 hours total when I've been around/been able to verify his winnings/losses - I dunno that'd be around 2000 hands I guess (4000 total)

he has had one losing session for about -2k, and the rest are winning sessions - he's up around 20k when I've been around him

this is pretty amazing since he plays nowhere near optimal (doesn't double 11 vs anything 7 or higher, 10 vs 3-6 only, 9 never, no aces)

I keep on telling him and telling him and telling him that he's going to lose 30k one night - he has a kinda-martingale system that chases losses - he feels he is a favourite and will never lose

I really don't wanna be around when this happens

So basically what you're trying to say is that you don't have much self control...or a gambling problem...or both.

Good thing you can't clean out your bank account at the ATM, I guess.

GL!

Kordo,

I hope you can put aside your impression of me as a nit for a moment and take my advice for what it is.

Get a different job. Don't play cards online. I've known a couple people with gambling addictions, and I have a sister who counsels gambling addicts, among other people. No amount of "rules" you attach to gambling will work, except "don't ever do it." They may work for awhile, but then you'll make "one exception," and the whole thing will unravel.

Anyone who struggles with any kind of addictive gambling behavior should avoid every aspect of it altogether.
