Drinking soda may actually help you feel better "mentally" (especially a nice cold soda), which may help you in the short term, but in the long term it will detrimental. BTW, under normal conditions, i believe you can go 3 days without water.

I obviously have no idea what I'm talking about, but I would be shocked if the diuretic properties of any normal soda outweighed the hydrating ones.
