Re: Luxor 1/2 NL - Average Stack Sizes?
[ QUOTE ]
i will say one thing in defense of this room since no one seems to like it. this was one of the first rooms i really liked when i started playing live poker a few years back. they had a 2/4 game and fantastic drink service. the floor used to be really friendly and personable too. i guess it's changed for the worst according to everyone here. [/ QUOTE ] I'll back you on this. I just returned from a Vegas trip and hit the Luxor twice for a few hours each time. Every dealer I had save one were great and the floor was extremely gracious. Drink service was amazing as well. I didn't play any NL though, stuck to limit so that might make the difference. |

Re: Luxor 1/2 NL - Average Stack Sizes?
I have to say that their 1/2 game is possibly the worst in Vegas if not Nevada. The buyin limits are laughable and the three blind thing is stupid. Also it is too dark and the bonus awards are nothing to brag about.

Re: Luxor 1/2 NL - Average Stack Sizes?
Their jackpot drop is a joke. Bad beat is $1000, forget the qualifier. High hand is $100 per royal, $50 per straight flush, $30 for quads. I wonder how much they're stealing from the players with this.
As for it being the worst room in town, I think I liked Bally's less on my visit. It's 5 or 6 tables stuck in between table games and a bar. Easy to walk past it and miss it entirely. Noisy as hell, too. The dealers at luxor were okay, although the floor was pretty useless. The sit n gos were the biggest joke in town, though. T400 to start. $50+12. When you get to the table, they proceed to inform you that there is a T200 addon for $3, all of which goes to the house. 15 minute levels. 25/25, 25/50, 50/100. Not sure what happens after that, because I busted in third with 50/100 blinds and the two left immediately chopped. The 1/2 game was pretty average. Not as wild preflop as some of the other games I played, but still with its share of donks in the three sessions I 'endured.' I like the luxor far better as a hotel than a casino. |

Re: Luxor 1/2 NL - Average Stack Sizes?
Thanks for replying everyone, he doesn't know what he will play, either N/L or LHE. I've been trying to tell him that N/L is the way to go, but after reading a few of the posts, I'm not sure anymore.
His main gripe is that he plays well, but is ominiously worried about the suck-outs. Building a nice stack then having someone call him down all the way with a crappy hand and winning. He's bringing about $500 with him total, and is not sure how long he will be able to gamble on that particular size roll, that's why he's choosing the such a low buy-in type of game. And from what he's recently read, he now knows he could be in for one heck of a ride at Luxor. ...Thanks again - P |

[/ QUOTE ] Yeah, that never happens in LHE. [/ QUOTE ] That's pretty light for 1/2 NL. It's not even a lot for 3/6 LHE. His best hope is to win a couple three hundred so he can try 1/2 NL. |

Re: Luxor 1/2 NL - Average Stack Sizes?
I just returned from staying there. I was informed on asking that it was $50 buy in and you could rebuy when you reached $1. As someone else said, it was with 3 blinds.

Walk across the street to Tropicana. 1/2 NL $200 buy in and the worst freaking poker players you've ever seen.
