Jerome Kersey was the second greatest Blazer of all-time, just behind

You really haven't seen a guy miss a wide-open dunk until you've seen Jerome Kersey miss a wide-open dunk.

I guess Kersey was banging this chick I went to homecoming with back in his short-lived Seattle days. (this was years after high school). Another friend of mine and I figure that's a really encouraging thought for this girl's husband now.

So if you see him again, ask him if he's a fan of the Sea Gals.

Is he even better than Chris Webber? I always thought he was the king of this.

Nice story TSC. Anybody else from Oregon have the Blazer glasses from Dairy Queen? Those were pretty sweet.

It'd be fun to see Duckworth do the patented million pumpfakes in a pickup game.

Back then Kersey went 100 mph all the time. And he was never the most coordinated player. So it was like shooting a rocket at the bottom of the rim. The thing was he didn't give a [censored], he'd just grab the rebound and try to dunk it again.

Also, it's a little known fact but he had no neck.

A bunch of ex-NBA players play at the gym near my parent's house in LA. Whenever I come visit for the holidays I make it a point to go out there and try to get a few games in. I played against AC Green a couple weeks ago. He's not that great anymore, but he's strong as anything. I had to guard him one game and I'm only 6'2". He threw me down about 4 times when I was trying to box him out, but he apologized pretty much every time. He's a really nice guy though, very polite and stuff.

Tony Smith is another guy who plays there sometimes. He used to play for the Lakers in the early 90's. He doesn't really try that hard, but when he does he is unstoppable. I remember I had to guard him once and one of the regular older guys said that the "young fella" (that's me) was going to torch him. He proceeded to hit 7 straight turnaround jumpers in my eye.

Brent Barry also showed up once. He was the quickest person I have ever seen. It's so bizarre. I switched on to him once and he was by me before I could even move. Pretty unreal. He also went baseline this one time and I knew he was going to come to the other side of the basket for a reverse layup. I jumped to block his shot and he somehow got his arm around both of mine, spun it up high off the backboard and it dropped straight through. It was pretty nuts.

Over the summer I also got the chance to see Samuel Dalembert, Corey Magette, Corliss Williamson, Theo Ratliff, and Marc Jackson play pick-up at Stanford. There was some two week business program that they were all doing and they came out to the gym to play a little bit. I know some of the girls on the women's team and I went to the gym to say hello and Magette and Dalembert were playing pick-up with them. Needless to say, I got on my basketball shoes and called next. Dalembert is almost as quick as Brent Barry was, he's just a freak of nature. He's also the most jovial, easy-going dude you'll ever meet. Just a genuinely cool guy. Magette is huge. Just absolutely ripped. I guarded him the second game and he apologized to me saying, "sorry man, I can't go really hard I'm still rehabbing my ankle." I think he thought I wanted him to go 100% on me because I looked excited. He didn't really try at all except one play where he crossed me over and splashed in a three. Corey Maggette is now the quickest person I have ever seen . . .
