Re: 15/30 Wynn, pondering from McCarran abt 55
[ QUOTE ]
so you fold to the flop raise? A fair line. However, if you plan to see a showdown, I think the best way to get there is raising the turn. [/ QUOTE ] |

Re: 15/30 Wynn, pondering from McCarran abt 55
What is "semi-loose, semi-aggro, tough, thinking player" who is UTG check raising two people with on a drawless flop like this? Clearly he knows he's trapping fish lady in BB and doesn't mind at all. My first thought is he's got the best hand. Seems like you're thinking he does not ...
Him flopping bottom or middle set? Seems like he might wait for the turn to raise. A9s? AJo? 55-88? What does a guy like this limp UTG with is the problem I'm having trying to analyze this hand. Clearly you're folding the turn to a 3-bet? |

Re: 15/30 Wynn, pondering from McCarran abt 55
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] One problem is that a tough player should combine the dry board with your bet and come to some conclusion other than "this guy is definitely stealing with nothing." It would be much different if the pot were heads-up or three-handed. There is some chance you'll get a better hand to fold (or, rarely, worse one to call) on the turn), but while I usually love these plays that aim to pick up the 3-to-4-big-bet pots, I think he'll have it. [/ QUOTE ] The thing is, with this old woman, basically everyone was salivating to play against her. She went to a lot of showdowns and didn't win very many of them. So my thinking was that if UTG has any kind of Ace or paint, he knows he's good against the old woman, and if he can get rid of me then he's golden. And I actually do think that he thinks I'm full of crap. I think one upside of my line is that I can even maybe get a fold from 66-88. [/ QUOTE ] Agreed on folding out 66-88 sometimes. And as I said, it's definitely possible that a thinking aggro UTG will follow this reasoning, and if you're not folding then I think you got the hand right. I'm just a little too used to reacting to opponents who stay too honest in fourhanded pots and think I'm going to showdown every hand. Nice hand. --Nate |

I tend to fold the flop, but my 15/30 games are generally very straight forward.

Re: 15/30 Wynn, pondering from McCarran abt 55
[ QUOTE ]
I'm in mid-late position with 55 UTG limps, UTG+1 calls, some folds, I call, everyone folds to BB who checks. Flop is 942r Checks to me, I bet BB calls UTG raises UTG+1 folds I call, intending to raise any turn. Fine? [/ QUOTE ] No, I'd let this go now, or maybe peel to see the turn and fold if I don't get any help. The pot is small, and I don't think your line will work often enough to be profitable. |

Re: 15/30 Wynn, pondering from McCarran abt 55
[ QUOTE ]
Live 15/30 at the Wynn, last night around 2am Game is pretty wild. Most of them seem to be regulars who know each other. BB is super-fish, old woman who plays every hand and doesn't fold. UTG is semi-loose, semi-aggro, tough, thinking player. Does some pre-flop limping and cold-calling but seems solid post-flop My image may be a bit weak-tight as I've folded a few flops after raising pre-flop, missing and having it come back 2 bets to me. I'm in mid-late position with 55 UTG limps, UTG+1 calls, some folds, I call, everyone folds to BB who checks. Flop is 942r Checks to me, I bet BB calls UTG raises UTG+1 folds I call, intending to raise any turn. Fine? [/ QUOTE ] Turn: Ac (two clubs, but irrelevant IMO) The worst card for me. Or is it... BB checks, UTG bets, I raise as planned... Does anyone with me in the call-and-raise-any-turn camp wanna change their answer to "raise any turn but an ace" ?? Or do we stick with it? |
