I don't know why he would bluff here when he knows I'm going to call, so I fold.

I think you're giving him too much credit, I would look him up.

Smells like a medium pocket pair to me. He knows you dont have a Q b/c you checked the river and feels like he can value bet here. By the time you get to the river, check calling seems like the only option here as a busted draw will bet here often enough to make calling profitable.

A read on your opponent would help tremendously. Against an unknown I'd just fold the flop and find a better spot to take down a pot.

I think since the pot was big enough it was worth the call. I'm learning the hard way that, people bluff a lot on the river when they've missed or are trying to represent top pair on the board. I try and save that one last bet by folding and then am mentally tortured for the next two hours because I realize I had the best hand. When I'm playing well I make the call and win some big pots.

Paying off on the river when you're beat = small mistake
Folding the river with the best hand = large mistake

If the flush card came, or maybe an ace or something, you could probably fold, because what could you beat? But on this river with the way the hand was played, I'd say this is a must call.

You summed it up perfectly.

Why are you c/r'ing the flop?

One thing that might make me want to call the river is that he didn't raise the turn if he had trips.

You also played it as though you were on a draw. So he might not think you're going to call since it looks like you missed. You induced a bluff. What trip Q is checking this river?

I'd rather bet the flop than checkraise, but once you got to the river the way you did, I think you have to call. You beat many 6s and almost all flush draws. The river was a blank, so your check clearly indicates weakness.

I agree. Bet the flop or call the flop and donk the turn.

I don't think he beats many 6s that come in from EP.

To bad it isn't true. If you call while you will have the worst hand a little bit to often it is a small mistake. If you fold while you would have had the best hand just enough to make a call profitable you made a small mistake.
