Re: Common spot when defending blinds
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] I probably reraise or fold preflop. As played it's fine [/ QUOTE ] Anybody can comment on this ? I think foldign KJs here is not an option but 3betting doesnt seem liek attractive option either as all worse K's and J's will fold and hand wont be worth much postflop. [/ QUOTE ] I think calling here is totally fine. Most TAGs are on autopilot postflop and by mixing in different lines like check-call, bet! or check-call, check-check, bet! or check-raise! you can take the pot away plenty without even hitting your hand. You should of course 3bet it sometimes from the blinds but doing so every time will cause you to have a HUGE 3betting range meaning that you will be playing bloated pots with air OOP alot and simply get reamed by good competion. Folding if you dont feel like neither (if you have a terrible image for instance) is fine too. |

Re: Common spot when defending blinds
You are not the boss
I don't have pokerstove but is it possible to work out the top 13% of starting hands? (you said his PFR is 13) - that, along with you being OOP should make a good case for folding at least some of the time. |

You are not the boss [/ QUOTE ] But I try to learn from him. Maybe I will be one in the future [ QUOTE ] I don't have pokerstove but is it possible to work out the top 13% of starting hands? Re: Common spot when defending blinds
Alright genius I understand it doesn't exactly work like that, the point is KJ does not do well OOP vs a tight player's opening range, which is as good an argument for folding as any.

Alright genius I understand it doesn't exactly work like that [/ QUOTE ] Yeah especially becaue I wrote he steals blind 28%. Also equity is not that important in NL. What are arguments for foldign ? KJ dominates so many hands there... |

Re: Common spot when defending blinds
[ QUOTE ]
What are arguments for foldign ? [/ QUOTE ] You're in a reverse implied odds situation OOP with a marginal hand that will often be awkward to play postflop vs a decent opponent? I'm not sure why you don't understand the point I'm trying to make, which is that folding certainly isn't "not an option". I'm not saying I don't call sometimes here, just that my standard play is fold/raise > call. |

Re: Common spot when defending blinds
i fold this hand preflop 90% of the time, reraise 9% of the time. i can't see how you could make playing KJs from this situation profitable unless the PFR is a horrible weak/tight player.

You're in a reverse implied odds situation OOP [/ QUOTE ] [ QUOTE ] just that my standard play is fold/raise > call. [/ QUOTE ] I dont agree that its "reverse implied odds" situation. Its not full ring limit holdem. KJs dominates more hands than it is dominated by. He can have KT,K9,K8,K7s,K6s,J10,J9,J8s there. Also I can make a straight or flush, how is it reverse implied odds situation ? |
