Guys, the value on the Philly side was Gonzalez, not Floyd.

[/ QUOTE ]

that's what i figured too, but on Unfiltered, Nate mentioned Gonzalez as being a B-/C+ prospect. did his stock drop, or was he just not as good a prospect as I initially thought?

[/ QUOTE ]

That seems harsh to me when he had 166 Ks in 154 IP as a 20 year old lefty in AA. He does have major control issues, however.

I like it a little less if Gonzalez is the PTBNL. I think this trade has something to do with picking up some pitching depth to maybe trade Lieber. The Phillies still need a catcher, third baseman and an outfielder or two, to fill one of the top two in the order and to find someone who can hit behind Howard.

I anxiously look forward to Garcia giving up 40 home runs next year.

Garcia's GB/FB ratio as been getting progressivly better over the past few years. As with any pitcher heading to CBP I'm sure his HR allowed will rise, but I don't think it will fly off of the map.

[/ QUOTE ] Gonzalez is the PTBNL; he can't be traded officially yet because of the rule five draft.

This is one of the most lopsided trades in a long time...Garcia has a higher VORP than Meche and Lilly over the past three years... Combined. Gonzalez was a throw in to complete the Thome deal last year, and Floyd followed up his 6 ERA in 05 at AAA with an 8 ERA this year in the bigs.

[/ QUOTE ] Comiskey is at least as good of a HR park as CBP, and it is in the AL. His HR allowed will likely decrease, and he has a k/bb of better than 2.5/1 in addition.

Comiskey is the best place for homers in the league.

Phillies already signed a 3rd baseman - Helms. I also see no point in signing a catcher with Ruiz and Coste around. Probably need 2 guys to platoon in RF, though.

White Sox should have gotten alot more for Garcia- Instead of making progress each year it has seemed that Floyd has regressed..

I like the trade Phillies needed veteran pitcher and there are always teams worrying about trading prospects. They are just that prospects we always seem 2 games out of wildcard and addition of Garcia should make us at least a wild card contender and not pretender.
