Re: best place to look for cheap rooms on the strip
Check out the American Casino Guide website...Also if you have anything like Delta Air miles they may offer you a deal...I think expedia.com also shows rates...
On the Strip probably the Stratosphere or Circus Circus would be the major casinos with the most reasonable rates...or maybe on Fremont Street...the Golden Nugget and the Fremont Hotel are there.... |

Re: best place to look for cheap rooms on the strip
Tropicana is probably horrible because their cheapest rates are their Garden rooms and those are awful.
In general, the sites people listed here along with travel axe and sometimes cheapo Vegas show some good rates. If you do not care about hotel quality, the cheapest places south strip are Excalibur and Tropicana, mid strip are Casino Royale and Imperial Palace, and North Strip Stratosphere, Sahara, Circus Circus(beware the manor rooms), Riviera, and Frontier with Frontier Atrium suites perhaps being a good option due to size(though not quality). It kinda depends what you want to be close to. |

Re: best place to look for cheap rooms on the strip
When you have figured out where you want to stay and found the cheapest rate on a discount website (I like www.i4vegas.com), call the hotel direct and ask them to match the rate. 9 times out of 10 they will do this without any arguments.
This way you get your discount reservation and you only need to fork out for the first night's cost as a deposit, rather than having to prepurchase the whole stay. If you subsequently change your plans, you will be very glad that you followed this advice. |

Re: best place to look for cheap rooms on the strip
We're staying at the IP in January. The hotel website was cheaper than most "discount" sites. It was about the same as travelworm.com, but travelworm does offer a $25 food/drink voucher. Of course, IP is supposed to have the worst food in Vegas, except for maybe the Burger or Pizza palaces
Personally, I like going through the hotel if it's cheapest or within a few bucks. |

Imperial Palace, very decent. I'm there next Saturday and Sunday night for $100 for both nights total....solid, right in the center of the Strip.
