Use your teeth.

I do obviously

Not obviously.

How do you propose to eat a fairly big chip without it touching the roof of your mouth? Can you place the entire chip along the front row of your teeth to avoid the jagged edges of the Dorito?

[/ QUOTE ]
You don't have to put the whole thing in at once. Better yet, try placing it horizontally into your mouth, not vertically.

Have you burnt the roof of your mouth lately? It could just be from the spices in the chips touching the abrasions on the roof of your mouth.

Yeah, I suppose I could chew in smaller increments. Maybe they melt in your mouth, and I don't place them in my mouth vertically, but in my opinion they are some of the hardest tasting chips on the market.

That was my first guess, I did have pizza a few hours prior, but whats odd is it wasn't particularly hot, but I guess it can still irritate the roof without me noticing much since it was five minutes out of the oven. Could be my threshold for what I consider hot.

I don't have a problem with Doritos. Cap'n Crunch is a different story, they tear me to pieces. It's worth it though because I only eat them a couple times a year.

Awesome choice, haven't had them in far too long. Golden Grahams, and Fruity Pebbles Multi-colored get an honorable mention also.

I used to have this problem with cereal, particularly something called waffle crisp. Left my gums feeling like ground beef. but it was good I couldn't stop eating.

No sorry about that, I actually have the bag in front of me but when I type names really fast sometimes I type them how they sound. Doritos, spicy nacho. I actually pronounce them Dur-ito as opposed to Dor-ito so it's a lil subconcious.

[/ QUOTE ]

I think there just might be some kind of correlation between the problem you pose in this thread and your innate tendency to enunciate "durrrrr".

This was my immediate thought of as well as soon as I read the first post.

Doritos, never had a problem with them and they are so tasty.
