How much does it cost in materials/labor/electricity to make a large pizza?

[/ QUOTE ]

Our cooks make $8.00/hr and make about 70 pizzas an hour, so about $.11 per pizza for cooks.
Person cutting the pizza makes $6.50/hr so about $.09 per pizza.

Ingredients, including dough, are about $2.00.
Eliectricity is hard to gauge because it goes to more than just the oven, but based on oven costs, I'd say the grand total comes to about $2.50.

$2.75 if you wan stuffed crust.

jesus, where the hell was your pizzahut that your cooks are churning out 70 pizzas an hour and you have a guy getting paid just to cut????

How do you make 70 pizzas an hour as a cook? Don't pizza hut cooks still throw the crusts up in the air? Adding all the ingredients and putting it in the oven still takes < 1 minute?

you can easily make a pizza in less than a minute. You pull the thing out of the cooler (there is no dough tossing, it all comes frozen), throw some sauce and cheese on, add some toppings and toss it in the oven.

ok, ill shut up now since this isnt my "ask me" thread

Were you managing an actual full restaurant or just a delivery outlet?

[/ QUOTE ]

Full service dine-in.

As far as the oil, its about a cup. Roughly half of it is still in the pan when the pizza comes out. The other half soaks into the pizza.

Alobar's right...dough comes frozen on truck, and when we need it, its put on a pan and set in the walk-in cooler. Stays there anywhere from 12-36 hours.

When I started, I ate alot of pizza from there. Gained about 5 pounds or so. After a few months I couldnt eat it anymore and only did so if I was really hungry. We used to do alot of food trades with the Chipotle down the street.

During our off peak hours, usually between lunch and the dinner rush, the cooks would pre-assemble pizzas. Pre-sauce and pre-cheese them. Then when you order a sausage pizza, they can just pull one out, throw on some sausage and some cheese and top and its ready. Takes about 20 seconds.

My store was in the Chicago Region, which is currently the number #1 region in the county, and we did alot of business, so we had enough labor dollars to pay some 17 year old to come in for four hours and cut pizzas.

Call local Pizza Hut. Order pizza. Eat pizza. Wait 30 minutes or so. Call Pizza Hut to complain. Pizza was wrong, pizza was burnt, pizza was undercooked, etc. They will offer to replace it or give you a credit for a free pizza later on. This works about 3 times, then they catch on and wont give you anything for free anymore. Call Pizza Hut Customer Service number to complain. Can be about anything. They will send you a coupon for a free pizza. This will work two times, then they wont give you free stuff anyone.

Repeat as desired using new phone number.

Edit to add: Don't be an [censored] when complaining. I refused to give free things to [censored] customers, which we got alot of.
