These replies were great, so thanks. I'll probably stick to the 2-5 NL and give the V a good shot. It sometimes feels like I always retreat to Bellagio but I liked Wynn a lot last time down and I want to give Venetian a good shot. I hear the room is extremely nice and I like the poker rate. I'm a little sick of the Mirage, but I will have to drop in to see who is playing.

It's unfortunate the bigger limit game got nitted out of the casino. With the food and freebies that sounded pretty sweet.

I heard that they no longer have $3 chips, and thus the 9/18 game is gone. Is this true?

They still have the $3 chips (technically) but they do not spread a game that uses them any more. As hey switched from 3/6 to 4/8, they had no need for $3 chips, as the next higher limit from 4/8 is 8/16 not 9/18.

AND they started spreading 2/4 for the first time (that I know of) about a week ago. They seem to be completely giving up on trying to be anything special. And the rumor mill is spreading noises like V executives are rethinking whether they even want a poker room at all. I can't see them ripping it out completely, but I wouldn't be a teeny bit surprised at a serious downsizing and perhaps relocation.

Also stay away from the Venetian if you're at all sensitive to air freshener. There must be Glade pumps inside the air conditioning ducts, because the strong, highly concentrated scent of air freshener is everpresent and inescapable inside the casino. I got an insta-headache and left after 5 minutes.

Another nit-picky point:

The poker tables at Venetian are so new that there is no give to the padding underneath the felt... it's too firm. This makes it difficult to pick up your cards, which is quite frustrating.

The "V" has 1/2 and 2/5 everyday--- 4/8 everyday
6/12 Omaha hi/lo now and then with $3 chips.
6/12 horse on Saturday 11:30 am with $3 chips
15/30 now and then ( this game is a $$$ maker)
5/10 no-limit about 4 days a week
8/16 now and then with $4 chips-----
Good food for table side eats, good cocktail service and floor staff that for the most part is ok.

Just to be an even bigger nit. I know that, as I played it all the time back then. I was referring to the switch from being a 3/6 house to a 4/8 house meant that they would spread limits in multiples of 4 (i.e. 4/8 and 8/16 instead of 3/6 and 6/12). This is how it is usually done in larger rooms (hence Mirage does 6/12 not 8/16 and Wynn does 8/16 instead of 6/12 etc).

However, V has decided to throw that out the window of late, according to what Don Olney has posted.

Explain, who hosts this game that it is guaranteed to spread on Sat mornings? Who plays in it? Sounds like a blast!
