One of the news stations in New York did a story about these things a few years ago. They tried 4 or 5 different products and none effectively blocked the camera from seeing your license plate.

If it is that reflective, a cop coming up behind you at night might have trouble reading your plates. Fixit ticket time.

I know a guy who built something with a similar goal. Basically, he built a casing for his plate with special lighting on it. Basically, if the lights were on, anyone could easily see his plate. He had a switch hooked to his dash that would flip the lighting off and make the plate invisible. He used it to travel on a local toll highway and saved hundreds of dollars. I have no idea if it worked in the daytime.

I think he means how is it legal to use it to obscure your license plate from camera's at red lights or other cameras used to get your information when speeding/otherwise breaking the law.

[/ QUOTE ]
It's generally not legal to obscure your plates, but selling a product that COULD be used to do this isn't necessarily illegal.

[/ QUOTE ]

If it were they should ban black paint also.

when i was in 4th grade i thought up a little plate that with the flick of a switch would slide over your license plate. this is much smarter and if i owned a car i'd probably go for it.
