Default Re: Playing with, \"a Rock\" - Straddle?

WOW, thanks for the replies!

But there's still one thing missing:

Is there a pre-determined time the rock comes off the table? How is it decided how to stop playing the rock? Wouldn't just keeping the rock, piss off the rest of the table?

Seems to me, even though it's not involved in every hand, it's never really part of the players stack...thanks!

Well if a "rock eater" gets it they take the ruber band off of it. The other players don't like this. Generally the rock is just an agreement to straddle when you win the straddle, but the player that has it is under no obligation (other than not being a jerk/nit) to put it back in play.

i play 1/2 nl w/a 5 rock in dallas. the room puts the 5 rock into the first pot, and it is a forced straddle every hand no matter where you are. e.g. if you're OTB, everyone has to call 5 to come in, or can raise, and you still get last action(after SB and BB). it creates a lot of action since it is really a 1/2/5 game where last action is usually in some weird spot.
