Rice pudding can be really good, even if it does look like baby food gone wrong.

I haven't ever made or eaten rice pudding. And I don't drink or cook with milk or cream.

Frankly, I think this rice pudding requirement sucks hard.

Rice pudding is awesome!

Some inspriration for you:

Not sure how I feel about the idea of a required dish, though.

If everyone is against it, that's cool. I thought it would be a cool little twist. Again, it is certainly not easy for me, I've not made and rarely consumed rice pudding. So let's officially weigh in here. I don't care if you are a chef or an observer, you are allowed to vote.

Thumbs up or down on rice pudding requirement? If down, we'd go back to app and entree, no dessert. If you want to post a dessert, that's cool, but it would not count in the judging.

I voted pudding because rice pudding is awesome. Rice dishes are going to be wildly different, so it would be interesting to see what people come up with for one narrow dish.

Especially considering Ron's objections, you don't need dairy in rice pudding homey!

I voted pudding (again even though I dislike the dish) because since this is competitive, a little constraint that most people seem to dislike seems like a nice hurdle.

That said, let's not make this kind of added requirement a regular thing.

The creativity so far has been great. Restricting that creativity is a bad idea.

Also, no need for gimmicks yet - there has been good participation each week.

In the spirit of last week's "does pancetta count as bacon?" (though nobody actually used any), does wild rice qualify this week? I would vote "yes" but want to confirm since technically wild rice is not rice.

I agree with the pudding idea, but only if it's a neat change to the norm. I'd definitely vote against each week having a required dish.

Analyst: Wild rice definitely should count. I had to go look it up, though, as I just figured it was just a different variety of rice.

CSC: Regarding future contests, I really liked your idea last time of letting people add a bonus dish. Maybe in some future contests you can take off the guidelines and just let people provide whatever set of dishes they want?
