Re: NY: Hostels, Internet cafes and beer.
you can prob find some decent places for $100/night in Manhattan if you look around. hotels.com has some good rates. priceline as well.
here is a place on the upper west side for $100/night http://www.hotels.com/property.do?COYear...006&CIDay=5 |

Re: NY: Hostels, Internet cafes and beer.
Ty for the respones. Yes, I was talking about 100$/room. I guess we should stay away from Manhattan. I've googled a bit more and found some places within the 100$ range in Manhattan, but in general all these suck?
It's not like we go broke if we have to go wider than 100$ a night, but it would be nice to have a little budget made from home. And it's our first trip outside Europe, and I guess it's different, but we'll get over it |

I think the correct answer is to hold off on this trip until you are 21. Seriously.

Re: NY: Hostels, Internet cafes and beer.
stay in manhattan and adjust your budget to pay a bit more in bigger cities, and plan on finding very cheap accomodations in smaller places (camping for instance). most places in the US you can pay around 50 bucks for a motel room for 2 people, camping in state and national parks is generally around $15 a night. you can buy a tent at walmart for $30 that will last your whole trip.
your budget of $100 a day is fine and makes sense for most of the US, but for nyc plan on spending more than that and really enjoying the city. |

What's with all the "stay out of Harlem" crap? [/ QUOTE ] I know WTF? I lived in one of the worse areas of Harlem for 2 years (I saw a body being disposed of late one night) and you guys are exaggerating. In fact Im moving back there I liked it so much. There are plenty of places to stay in Harlem which would be totally safe for visitors. |
