JFK, thanks for your thoughts. 9 times out of 10 I fold this preflop but villian had shown a propensity to raise A/K-rag and definately did not need much to go to showdown. Also, given the game texture and my read of the bb, I was pretty positive unless he had a fairly strong hand it would be headsup. He was not the type to call 85s or 109s or even qjo.

For what it's worth, I was not happy that he bet the river. He showed 44 and I took it down.

The problem with check-raising the turn is if he checks and gets a freecard. You only have pocket 66s, giving him any type of freecard would be bad. If he catches your the only one to blame. I don't see him folding any other pair here anyway so I rather just bet out.
