tonic water isnt really water [img]/images/graemlins/tongue.gif[/img] it doesnt even taste like water. its like sprite for drunks.

It's not just the calories from alcohol that are slowing your weight loss. Alcohol reduces the amount of fat your body burns for energy. It also lowers your testosterone levels for up to 24 hours after you drink. It makes you want to eat more and the combination of food/booze packs on the pounds. Basically, if you're really out of shape and need to lose weight, cut out the booze for awhile and it will make your life much easier.

I was told by a trainer a long time ago that a good estimate would be that one night of binge drinking would set you back one weeks worth of lifting when you were trying to gain muscle mass. I suspect it's probably something like that for weight loss as well.

I know. [img]/images/graemlins/frown.gif[/img] Unfortunately, it's true. Like I said, it's not just the added calories, but the other effects that alcohol has that take a huge toll. Your liver converts alcohol to acetate, booze raises cortisol levels, there's all kinds of stuff happening.

Hmm, i want to see a study or some hard evidence here. This sounds a bit exaggerated.
