[ QUOTE ]
Go watch the series vs Detroit where he was rediculously good. Go compare that to Kobe's performance against Detroit a couple of years ago. It's pretty impressive how much more effective Wade was then Kobe against a similar Detroit team. [/ QUOTE ] I'm really anti-Kobe and even I can see this is a really dishonest argument |

I agree with OP completely in regards to Wade falling all over the place. He initiates contact AND sells the contact on a consistent basis. The problem though is that the refs call it. He reminds me a lot of a soccer player constantly diving.
With that said, his ability to totally take over a game is impressive. |

Dishonest how?
Do you want to compare stats. It's night and day. These are significant differences. Against Detroit with Detroit having HCA: Game 1: 27 MP 25 Points on 9/11 3 Rebounds 5 Assists Game 2: 46 MP 32 Points on 11/20 7 Rebounds 5 Assists (9 TOs) Game 3: 43 MP 35 Points on 13/17 8 rebounds 4 assists Game 4: 44 MP 31 Points on 8/11 6 rebounds 5 assists Game 5: 45 MP 23 Points on 11/20 3 Rebounds 4 assists Game 6: 37 MP 14 Points on 6/15 4 rebounds 10 assists That's 26.6 PPG, 61% from the field 5.3 rebs 5.5 blocks and a horrible 4.6 TOs per game. Kobe: Game 1: 47 MP 25 Points on 10/27 4 Rebounds 4 Assists Game 2: 49 MP 33 Points on 14/27 4 Rebounds 7 Assists Game 3: 45 MP 1 Points on 4/13 3 rebounds 5 assists Game 4: 45 MP 20 Points on 8/25 0 rebounds 2 assists Game 5: 45 MP 24 Points on 7/21 3 Rebounds 4 assists That's 22.6 PPG, 38% from the field 2.8 Rebs Per and 4.4 Assists per with 3.6 TO per game. How is that not more impressive? I'm sorry but 61% is really impressive against the Pistons D and thats including a horrible shooting game 6 from Wade. |

whether or not the fouls called on him are correct calls, he DOES get them consistently, and that has to be factored into his abilities as a player.
people used to say the same thing about shaq in his lakers days when he would bulldoze sabonis and divac (LOL EUROPEANS) en route to the NBA Finals. that said, he is quite overrated. his florida counterpart dwight howard would go ahead of him in an all-nba draft IMO, and even discussin d-wade being in the same company as lebron is a joke. |

GKA, I feel ya mayne, but I don't want to devalue a player that has the ability to get to the line. I just think he flops and flails around a lot, and since people have such a hard on for him, they think he is just playing hard, and is a tough player. In actuality, selling the fouls is his game, and with how much he falls all over the place, he better look out because all the contact could seriously shorten his career.

I think you guys are failing to realize all top swing players do these things.
Last year, Kobe, Wade, Lebron, Pierce all averaged 10+ FTA per game. This is the norm for a super star swing man. Wade is no different. |

[/ QUOTE ] another thing these guys have in common is that they are all very strong/tough so they like to initiate contact, even against bigs. you have a guy like manu ginobili, who is just as aggressive as the above guys, but is always twisting around bodies to avoid getting fouled, and gets to the line much less. especially pierce and wade often LOOK to get fouled, then worry about trying to get the and-1. |

Wade is no different. [/ QUOTE ]This is the norm for any player that attacks the basket. What bothers me about Wade, and its the same thing with Manu, they sell it so fervently. It does bother me. But here's the problem, in the NBA, fouls are called quite often when the ref "thinks" there is contact. If he sees someone like Wade, Kobe, etc go to the rim, and fall to the ground, regardless of whethere there was a foul, it gets called. Its a shrewd play by the SG, but I think people need to be aware of whats really happening here. BTW, I really don't want to like Wade because what I described above really bothers me, but I can't dislike him. He's too good. |
