Searching would lead you to, most recently:

Do you tip when you get take-out?

... and if you have any other tipping questions they have been answered:

If I walk in and pick it up, then I do not tip. I did not receive any service other than have someone hand me my food in a bag and run my credit card through a machine. I do not tip dry cleaners, McDonald's employees or at Starbucks for essentially the same treatment. I see no difference in picking up a pizza, Chinese or from Applebee's.

I worked at a restaurant this past Summer as a host. Many people would call in with to-go orders that I would place. Occasionally I would get tipped (by idiots), but most of the time I was not (by smart people). There is no point in tipping the host who just rang it into the computer and picked it up from the back. You probably occupied one minute of my time which is rarely worth $2-$5, let alone any money at all.

I always thought the tips were shared with the cooks and busers and bartenders and hosts etc. I always tip a little cause some of them are still working on my order even if I'm not sitting at a table.

You should try it sometimes. They seem to appreciate the gesture a lot more the the people who expect a tip. I don't do tip everytime or even very often but I do occasionally, especially the ones I've noticed before really trying to do a good job.

My roomate delivers for a restaurant that does mostly pick-up and delivery business. Its a local BBQ restaurant and I just asked him how many people tip on pickups. He estimated 80-90%.

I always tip on pickups, but I live in a small town and half the time know whoever I am getting the food from so the tip is often in return for a better price overall anyways.

I tip at a pick up place where there is someone who puts everything together and takes it to my car.

I tip my azz off and I don't tip on take out. When I worked as a waiter we pretty much said to each other if you cheap bastards don't want to tip get a take out.

Fast food places have employees that make minimum wage. Nicer "sit-down" type restaurants have waiters who do not make minimum wage. This is the difference.
