None of the Mensa members i know have ever been to an event. The events really seem to be for those who have nothing else to do with their lives.

this is a mild hijack, but is it even that difficult to get into Mensa?

I remember seeing the "youngest member of Mensa ever" on Jay Leno one night, and Jay asked her what the planet farthest from the sun was (he had been asking her a bunch of questions that seemed pretty obviously rehearsed) and it took her ~3 guesses to get it right.

No.

But having a high IQ doesn't mean you have a vast pool of knowledge. It might have been more appropriate for Jay to have asked her a question she could reason her way through.
