Man I can't believe you are bitching about the trick or treaters. I wish more would come to my apartment. I get a kick out of the costumes.

[/ QUOTE ]

It's the timing that is bothersome. I like the costumes.

Yeah I wish kids would come by my place. I love Halloween. But they all get driven to the rich neighborhoods. Not apartment complexes (even though this is the nicest complex in the area).

Yea, seriously, wtf? When I first moved out on my own into an apartment in 2000, I bought candy for halloween. 0 kids came.

I figured that was a fluke, so next year, I bought candy again.

0 kids came.

Since then I just stopped buying candy, and it's been just as well, since I haven't had a single kid knock on my door. Do kids just not go trick or treating in apartment complexes? I'd figure apartments would be the ideal trick-or-treating spot - all these residences in such close proximity to one another. Oh well.

I just put an mp3 of gun shots running on loop with a speaker facing my front door from inside the house. Keeps the kids away.

Get a big dog, have it bark when people knock on the door, that's the reason we've never had a trick or treater come to our door.

For a cheaper alternative use a 'beware of the dog' sign.

or a gun.

I have blinds on my door and this kid looked in without even knocking and as I walked up he knocked and I just shut my blinds on him.

I thought the same thing. Some co-workers were discussing getting some beer's tonight. I asked what time they would be finished trick or treating with their kids. They said by 6:00 or 6:30. I don't recall going out til latter than that when I was young - usually after dinner around 7:30, IIRC.
