I'm going to be frank. I think the session fee if pretty much going to be about the same as a winning player getitng raked from the pot. It does induce you to play a lot looser than you normally would just to keep up, but if houses are raking every pot you win say like 4 dollars you'd only win like 3 hands an hour to get the same rake. It seems like it sucks while it is happening, but you might only be paying sligtly more than you would else where.

The only people this would really hurt is someone who is just starting out and playing like maybe 15 percent of the hands dealt to him. All the detroit area casinos you have implied odds on practically every hand you get.

Also, is it worth the gas? you might want to do some ecomonmic planning before hating the session fee to terrible much. 4 hour drive could equal 8 hour road time depending on the car you have could mean a buttload in fuel charges.

So i say stay put and come play with me at greektown and own newbs like they should. See you at the tables big guy.

I think the time share is a lot worse than the rake unless the game is super rich.

Texibus, thx for post.
ok, 8pm = 20min away...8am = 1hour away
I don't plan on driving 4 hours just to play poker but am interested to know what casinos offer NL w/ no session fee.

The session fee annoys me becase I am not rolled for higher stakes games and play TAG. If im getting charged $12 an hour or about every 30-40 hands I don't see how I can make a decent long term profit. What stakes do you play?

The game is filled w/ fish but at 1/2 $12/hr just seems too much.

Motor City dealers are a little faster than Greektown.

I sat at Greektown's NL game one night and the dealer got out 4 hands in a half hour (30 minutes.) Brutal.

The thing with beating Detroit poker is that you have to be super selective about the games you play in and play consistantly super well, otherwise you will break even or lose. The higher you play the better chance you have of beating the house, but the tougher players you will encounter (although not necessarily all the time).

The rake and the time charges are too brutal, no matter how you slice it. I am not good enough to beat Detroit poker. I am a break even player here, although I do well in Vegas, AC, and on the Internet.

i've been playing the 100 and 200 nl games there. Playing 100 nl at those tables you can make a killing just playing tight aggressive, If you actually are playing tight aggressive and not being tight aggressive pre flop and then giving up on the pot after you get called on the flop.

I just started playing live and the 6 dollar session fee is definetely a downer. I was answering the posters question in a round about way. I'll try better.

The detroit casinos and their rake is going to be cheapier then you driving anywhere else from your location when you account for other expenses other than your rake. Also, the convience and LOOOOOOOse action in my opinion at those tables at 100 and 200 nl games are as good as you're going to find practically anywhere.

Now if you want to take a vacation and play cards different answer, but if you are talking about making a regular run just to play cards, pay the 6 bucks. Also, if you want to find me at Greektown give me a PM and I'd be happy to sit in on a table with you.

Seriously though JJNJustin you must be playing 5-10nl or higher because the 300 max is pretty bad. It's like playing a 50nl game online at party. Maybe you just had a bad night that's my perosonal belief haha.

Is it possible to make a decent profit with the $12/hr session fee?
