I don't know if you can still do it, but casino whoring is a great way to build a roll. I built up $5k doing this about 8 months ago.

Man reading these kind of threads makes me think a lot more 2+2ers are long term losers than I thought (not directed at you personally, just a general statement).

First thing: Live in NC, no casinos even close.

Second thing: Not 21, so no casinos.

Third thing: As for being a long term loser, call it what you will. An original deposit of 50, and ive cashed out over 1k in a year and a half. Then I had 600 buks and was playing the 3/6 limit, so a couple bad sessions there and there goes a roll.

I am not trying to play profesionally, just get some extra money and have fun doing it.

I know you said you were cool with BR management, but playing 3/6 on a $600 roll could have been part of your problem.

If you want to primarly play MTTs, I definitely think SNGs are the way to go - 10/9-handed, not 45-mans. I would also recommend another site than Stars (yeah I know, blasphemy!), since really, the competition is harder here, at least on the $15s and up. Never played the 3.40/6.50s, so no clue there.

Limit cash games sure, if that's your cup of tea (re: stevepa)...I find them absurdly boring myself. Wouldn't SNGs give you experience that's more valuable to MTTs though?

No one believed me when I said it was a small percentage a week ago, maybe 20-30% winners long term. Psshh.

There is a big difference between being a winning player and playing out of your roll until you blow through it (or a large chunk). It is easy for a very good player to fall into the later trap. I have done it, and it seems like many others have as well. The important thing is to learn from the mistake, and then not do it anymore!

Where in NC exactly? Just curious since I know some guys who run cardrooms in the Jacksonville area. I could maybe hook you up with them. Their games are so so soft. 1/2 NL mostly, may have added a few games since i moved away from there. They host tourneys as well. PM me if your interested.
