her father, my grandfather, died of a heart attack and had a weak heart the latter part of his life. so that probably has something to do with it. and no they arent sure.

I'm glad she's alright man. My dad was taken to the hospital for heart problems a few weeks ago, and even though it was nothing serious it freaked the hell out of me. Hope she has a speedy recovery.

that was definitley the case here. her body was giving her warning signs earlier in the day, and the tried to wait it out. better to be safe then sorry.

Hey bullet, sorry to hear about your mother, my mom had the same thing happen to her at about the same age. Yes, genetics plays a role as do other factors. In any case its very scary and your feelings are normal. My mother has had several stints put in and is now doing better. However, I am with you in realizing a new perspective on life and in particular my own health. PM me if you would like.

Like others, I'm very sorry to hear about your mother undergoing such a traumatic life-changing event but glad that she's alive. I hope her heart has not sustained too much permanent damage because of her heart attack. What to learn from this? Among other things, do YOUR best to not wind up in the same situation. Heart disease is genetic, and 46 is a youngish age for a heart attack. I don't know how old you are, but if you smoke, stop. If you haven't seen a doctor, get a check up if you're in your 20s and it's been a while. These things can be somewhat preventable with good lifestyle choices (no tobacco, exercise, diet) and being vigilant about your blood pressure and cholesterol. Sure nothing is guaranteed to prevent a heart attack, but at least have all your chips in with the best hand if it's going to happen (lame poker joke).
