I really like your idea of donating to a reliable charity. Do some research, find something you connect with, donate away.. you will feel good about it and its something thats very respectable,

I would blind him off and expect him to do the same. I wouldnt do it to a guy I have had conversations with.

Like others have said if you dont know him it's ok to just keep the moneys and donate or w/e them.
If you wanna play it nice or feel quilty or something you can always search the guy and tell him you will send the buyin back to him if he agrees to play another headsup match and if he wins it he sends you 1k and you are back where you started and everyone is happy..

You should send him what you think his equity would be in the sit and go. I think we've all forgotten about tables while multitabling, so it's hard to say "well, he should have been paying attention": people slip up all the time and it just so happens that this guy slipped up in one of the few ways that punishes you if you lose focus (whereas in a cash game you just sit out). He could have been just as drunk as you are and he just happened to have signed up before reaching passing-out stage. For all you know he could have thought he clicked unregister but his computer crashed. I just don't see how one can justify taking his money here.

Option 4 is silly as whether or not to donate money is a decision that should be independent of how you got your money.

Its your cash and your decision of what you want to do with it. "it's unethical to let a sucker keep his money".

I'm a pretty compassionate person when it comes down to it but all's fair in love, war and poker (most of the time )

You have enough money for it to hardly make any kind of dent in your roll, right? Bearing that in mind, you could carry out some kind of generous act but I wouldn't recompense him. He wouldn't be playing $1k HU SNGs unless he could afford to lose it so I simply don't think he deserves your generosity. It was his fault.

I'd say either keep it or, get all robin hood and donate it to something or someone.

Have a competition or something for all us 2+2ers
